Lifelong learning sustains individual and organisational development. Realising the vital role that training and development plays in the substenance and growth of organisations, NATRSS was set up in 1990, by Employees' Provident Fund Organisation. Ever since its inception, NATRSS has been emerging as a premier institution involved in training, research and consultancy in the social security sector.

A Pioneer in education and training in social security, NATRSS,now named as "Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security" (PDUNASS), is the only institution of its kind in the country. Its training programmes and allied endeavors have provided new ideas and integrated perspectives to individuals and organisations involved in social security sector. The Director, PDUNASS, has control over Four Zonal Training Institutes strategically located at Faridabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Ujjain and one Sub-Zonal Training Institute at Shillong.

In PDUNASS, Central Provident Fund Commissioner, EPFO is the Dean of the Academy. The Central Provident Fund Commissioner is appointed by the Central Government is the Chief Executive Officer of the Central Board and is an ex-Officio member of the Board. He heads the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation.

Mr. M.P. Varghese, Addl. Central P.F.Commissioner Gr-I heads PDUNASS and is the Director of the Academy. He has worked in EPFO in different capacities and under his guidance and direction, Academy has grown both in the fields of Research as well as Training.
